Usual Health

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 2026

Usual Health is a personal health app for iPhone. Your health data belongs to you, and Usual Health is built so it stays that way.

What Usual Health reads

With your permission, Usual Health reads data from Apple Health on your iPhone: activity, heart, sleep, workout and body measurements. If you connect a health provider in the Health app, it can also read clinical records such as lab results, medications, conditions and clinical notes. You choose exactly which categories to share, and you can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app.

Where your data lives

All analysis, including your usual ranges, scores, grades, the morning brief and charts, is computed on your iPhone. Usual Health has no servers. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share your health data, or any other data about you. Usual Health contains no advertising, no trackers and no analytics. This website has none either, and sets no cookies.

Optional AI features

Usual Health's AI features can run entirely on your iPhone using Apple Intelligence, in which case your data never leaves the device. Alternatively, you may connect your own account with a third-party AI provider (such as Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI) by entering your own API key. If, and only if, you turn this on, a text summary of your health data is sent to that provider to generate answers and assessments, under that provider's terms and privacy policy, using your own account. You can turn it off at any time in Settings. API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Your health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with data brokers. We never possess it, and Apple's rules for HealthKit apps forbid anyone from using it for advertising or data mining.

Security

You can require Face ID or Touch ID, with your device passcode as a fallback, to open Usual Health. Health data is protected by iOS device encryption. Journal notes and chat history are stored only on your device and in your device backups.

Deleting your data

Settings, Delete my data walks you through removing everything Usual Health stores on your iPhone. Deleting the app also removes it. Your data in Apple Health is not affected.

Not medical advice

Usual Health helps you prepare for conversations with your doctor. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease.
